Our target audience is Pakistanis and Norwegians living in or visiting Pakistan.
The embassy’s mission is to promote and safeguard Norwegian interests through providing assistance to Norwegian individuals and businesses, and strengthening relations between government institutions, organizations, companies and people in Norway and Pakistan. Our efforts are informed by the core principles of multilateralism, respect for international law, peaceful settlement of disputes, sustainable development, and, most fundamentally, by the ideals of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
Pakistan is an important country to Norway, and relations between our two countries are wideranging and cordial. This is reflected in the fact that the embassy in Islamabad is one of Norway’s largest foreign missions. Norway and Pakistan maintain close political contacts, Norwegian investments in Pakistan are increasing, our development aid to Pakistan is substantial, and some 40.000 residents with a Pakistani background in Norway contribute to the development of Norwegian society and to a lively, continuous exchange of people and ideas between our two countries. Norway provides Pakistan with substantial development and humanitarian aid, with a particular emphasis on education. The Norwegian company Telenor is Pakistan’s second biggest mobile telephone operator and is reported to represent the largest single European investement in the country. Trade between the two countries has a great potential, which it is my ambition as ambassador to help realise.
