Norway's development cooperation with Pakistan dates back to mid-80s and has over the years evolved from commodity assistance to right-based development. The main areas of Pak - Norway development cooperation are Good Governance (Democratisation and Human Rights) and Education. Support to the promotion of Pakistani Culture is an integral part of Norwegian assistance, for which a separate allocation of approx. NOK 6 million is granted annually. Currently, Norway is providing an annual assistance of approximately NOK 66 million to Pakistan, which is channelised through Governmental, Non-governmental Organisation, and the UN System.
